Signature Style: Coralcocowexler

"Signature Style" puts the fashion spotlight on "regular" gay men across the country, because we want to see your style! Today, Coralcocowexler shows off his look.

2602173171_c1f9f160d8_o Describe the sensation you get after you make a killer find.

That really is predicated on what the "find" is: recently, at Bloomingdales, I found a pair of jeans by Seven for All Mankind on sale for only $26 . . . in contrast for their normal price of about $230. I was so surprised, I ran up to a salesperson and asked if the sale price was correct. I just couldn't believe it, but apparently this style of jeans didn't sell for them in a 30 waist at all and they were nearly giving them away.

Do you put a lot of effort into selecting the perfect underwear?

I really do, right now I like American Apparel's basic undies though for everyday wear. I also like a lot of AussieBums' designs.

How much time a day do you spend on your hair?

I tend to spend about twenty minutes on it, not counting shower time. I normally flatiron it, but in a very loose style that's more a surfer look and not perfectly flatironed . . . I don't want to look too much like a scene-kid, really.

Are you a product junkie?

Yes, I have to admit I am: I use a lot of Bed Head products, plus a pomade by American Crew which I really like. Some of Bumble & Bumble's products I have used in the past and also liked.

2287952068_1e7206d05b_o Where do you shop?

Really, all over: I find things at PacSun (such as boardshorts) that I like, I do buy a lot from Hollister, mainly in polos and hoodies, but aside from that I wear a lot of streetwear. As for specific boutiques and shops, I like Wolfgang's in Gainesville, Florida, Wish in Atlanta, Covert in Orlando, and a lot small places devoted to streetwear and sneakers.

I really love jeans, and brands I am currently into are: William Rast, Dylan George, and Goldsign. I mainly buy girl jeans as these fit me the best. Locally, in Gainesville, Indigo and Wolfgang's are my favored places to buy jeans.

I also shop at American Apparel a lot.

Do you tend to be attracted to men with style similar to yours? Or the exact opposite?

I do tend in general to go for skater/emo type boys much like myself, though my current boyfriend, whom I adore, dresses more in a preppy/fashion-based approach that does in some ways differ from my own sense of style.

Is there a particular accessory you can't live without?

Can we consider writing pens an accessory of fashion? I love fine pens by the likes of Lamy, Waterman, and Caran d'Ache. I would rather a $10,000 Caran d'Ache pen be my bling than a clunky watch no matter how fine. Watches just seem so old, trite, and outdated. I am sure some people would say the same though of pens in this digital age.

Where do you get your style information? People on the street? Mags?
Celebs?

I read fashion magazines, both men's and women's quite often but my friends and the staff of stores who dress smartly tend to be the broader influences on me. Also, living in a college town, other people inspire me all the time: there's one kid in town who often wears American Apparel shiny gold tights to the club and I really liked that glam look.

2319517320_9d24476a24_o What are your three favorite articles of clothing and why?

I really love sneakers, I feel like they're amazing works of art and also works of technology in many cases. I also wear a lot of T-shirts and boardshorts because here in Florida it is quite warm. I love the design of boardshorts, too.

Is there one person you tend to go shopping with more than anyone
else? Why?

My boyfriend and I shop together a lot; we both very much love clothes and shopping so it only makes sense, no? We even spend hours in the middle of the night just looking at cosmetics in the local Wal-mart Supercenter. Kinda lame, I know, but . . .

If you want to go out and get attention, do you have one foolproof outfit that does the trick?

Tight jeans by Goldsign and a black mesh T-shirt by American Apparel with pink Converse hi-top sneakers seems to work.

Are you environmentally conscious when you purchase clothing?

I try to be, I really admire American Apparel's dedication to fair working conditions and environmental issues in their products.

3330270538_942c5530c7_o On average, what percent of your paycheck do you spend on your style (clothes, products, etc.)?

That varies, but I guess around 30% at times?

How long do you typically spend getting ready to go out on a date?

About thirty minutes to shower then another thirty minutes to do my hair and makeup (yes, makeup: mascara, eyebrows, and sometimes under-eye makeup). And it takes me forever at times to figure out what I want to wear.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

Far too many! In sneakers alone, probably about thirty pairs, of which the lion's share are Converse hi-tops in various colorways, Nike SB Dunks, and limited edition Vans hi-tops. I mainly wear sneakers. I think dress shoes are rather boring and dull.

When buying shoes and clothing, is comfort or style more important?

Both matter. I have some lovely pairs of very tight girl jeans, but when flying for more than a couple hours I will wear either Seven for All Mankind girls' Dojo jeans, which are flares and very comfy or otherwise boardshorts.
