The perfect fit
Question: What do the hunky cowboy, the fresh-faced college prep,
the darkly sexy artist, the in-the-know urbanite and the hip
professional all have in common?
Answer: Their Levi's, of course.
Indeed, for decades we queers have clung to our Levi's as tightly as our Levi's have clung to us. Just wait till you see the moving biopic "Milk," set in the '70s and starring Sean Penn as the heroic but doomed "mayor of Castro Street." It seemed everyone in the stellar cast was sporting Levi's denim.
Through the '70s, '80s, '90s and into the present, Levi's have remained a staple of the gay wardrobe, and, like us, the iconic brand is way better appreciated out in the world than in the closet. Levi's are about tradition and reinvention, ruggedness and polish, quiet confidence and bold statements -- in other words, they exemplify the best qualities of our community.
But most of all -- let's get real -- our Levi's have a way of making our asses look hotter and our packages more noticeable.
To celebrate our love of Levi's and the company's commitment to our community through its generous donations to community causes (such as Marriage for All, MAGNET and the GLBT Historical Society), as well as the new Levi's store opening Nov. 10 in the country's gay Mecca, the Castro, we are calling on you to show us how hot you look in your Levi's.
Take a picture of yourself wearing them as you usually wear them -- fresh and dark or faded almost to white. Wear them neatly pressed or holey at the knees or cut off into shorts. Wear them spattered with dirt or paint. Wear them with a leather jacket or combat boots, or a navy blazer and loafers, or with a plain white tee and sneaks. Or, best of all, wear them with nothing else. Send the images to tips@gay.com.
Come on: Show us why you and your Levi's are the perfect fit.
NOTE: By submitting your photo, you represent that you are 18 years of age or older, that any pictures submitted are of you alone and that you give us permission to use the photos for promotional purposes at no cost or expense to us. Thanks!
